Private Collection, Illinois, USA.Description: Carved from fine Hetian jade, this elegant pendant is executed in openwork with low-relief carving and finely incised details. The composition depicts a pair of confronting dragons connected by flowing scroll motifs, creating a harmonious and balanced design characteristic of Western Zhou ritual jade. Dragon imagery was among the most significant decorative motifs of the period, symbolizing authority, protection, and noble status, and was widely used on ceremonial ornaments worn by the aristocracy. The refined craftsmanship, naturally developed patina, and well-preserved condition make this pendant an excellent example of Western Zhou jade carving.
