Yuan Blue‑and‑White Meiping Vase with Fish‑and‑Aquatic‑Weed Motif

拍品描述

Condition & Provenance：Well preserved overall, the base bears natural aged clay patina with genuine wear. Private Collection, New York Description：This imposing meiping follows the canonical Yuan form with a narrow mouth, sloping shoulder and tapering lower body. It is decorated in layered cobalt‑blue bands. The shoulder is wrapped in scrolling lotus blooms. The main register depicts a lively carp swimming amid water plants and floating fronds, with meticulously scaled fish and freely rendered foliage. The foot zone is finished with stylized ruyi‑form lotus panels. The cobalt pigment delivers a deep saturated blue with characteristic iron rust speckles. Painted in the bold, unrestrained brushwork typical of Yuan imperial porcelain, this sandy‑base masterpiece carries the auspicious meaning of surplus and prosperity, a spectacular museum‑quality blue‑and‑white treasure.
