Provenance: Private Collection, New York, USA Description: This elegant cup follows the classic form of the famous Chenghua chicken cup, featuring a slightly flared rim, rounded body, and shallow recessed foot. The exterior is delicately painted in soft blue and white tones with a charming scene of chickens among garden rocks, peonies, and orchids. The rooster stands proudly while the hens and chicks create a lively yet balanced composition. The fine blue outlines and gentle washes reflect the refined and graceful aesthetic of the Yongzheng imperial court. The porcelain body is exceptionally fine and white, with a smooth and glossy glaze surface. The interior remains undecorated, showing natural traces of age. The base bears a neatly written six-character blue and white “Da Qing Yongzheng Nian Zhi” mark within a double square. The chicken cup has long been regarded as one of the most celebrated forms in Chinese porcelain history, symbolizing good fortune, prosperity, and family harmony. Yongzheng period examples inspired by the Chenghua chicken cup are rare, and this softly painted version represents the elegant taste of Qing imperial ceramics, combining decorative beauty with practical tea ware function.
