The vessel retains a strong historical surface appearance. Although some areas of the gold and silver inlay show age-related wear and oxidation, the main imagery of divine figures, mythical beasts, dragons, and phoenixes remains clearly visible. The lid and vessel body are preserved together with stable structure. Provenance: Private Collection, California, USA Description: This exceptional Warring States bronze vessel is a covered ritual food container known as a dun, featuring a rounded body, raised lid, and three sturdy animal-form legs. The domed lid is topped with a circular finial, while the rim is decorated with interlocking diamond-shaped geometric patterns. The vessel has a full rounded body, short neck, and symmetrical loop handles on the shoulders, supported by three legs decorated with stylized animal heads. The entire surface displays the highly refined gold and silver inlay craftsmanship of the Warring States period. The decoration features dynamic bands filled with divine figures, mythical creatures, running horses, phoenixes, dragons, and flowing cloud patterns, creating a richly detailed composition full of movement and symbolism. A carefully arranged diamond-pattern border encircles the lower section, adding balance and elegance. The finely applied gold and silver inlays create a striking contrast against the bronze surface. After more than two thousand years, the vessel has developed a naturally aged patina with layers of green and reddish-brown corrosion. While some areas of the precious metal decoration show the effects of time, the overall design remains remarkably clear and impressive. As an important pre-Qin ritual vessel, the dun served both ceremonial and practical purposes and was closely associated with elite aristocratic culture. With its sophisticated craftsmanship, complex imagery, and historical importance, this vessel represents a remarkable example of Warring States inlaid bronze artistry.
