The raised relief decoration remains well preserved, and the celadon glaze displays a soft, elegant tone. Provenance: Private Collection, California, USA Description: This Longquan celadon ewer features an elegant gourd-shaped form with a fitted cover and rounded finial, created as a refined ancient wine vessel. The cover is decorated with raised lotus-petal motifs, while the upper section continues the layered lotus design. The rounded lower body is balanced with a long curved spout, a double-strap handle, and a slightly flared foot, creating a graceful and powerful silhouette. The vessel is covered entirely in a soft gray-green celadon glaze with a smooth and luminous surface, showing natural traces of age and burial exposure. The body is carved in deep relief with continuous peony scroll decoration, featuring layered petals, defined veins, and flowing branches that create strong three-dimensional depth. The carving is skillfully executed, with a rich and well-organized composition. The lotus-petal bands around the neck and shoulder complement the peony design on the body, creating a harmonious decorative arrangement. The spout, handle, and vessel body are seamlessly integrated, demonstrating the high craftsmanship of Longquan ceramic production. The exposed foot reveals a light gray ceramic body with aged earth traces, showing the natural transition between clay and glaze. The gourd-shaped ewer symbolizes prosperity and good fortune, while its elaborate relief decoration reflects the advanced craftsmanship of Longquan kilns. With its strong form, elegant carving, and refined celadon glaze, this vessel represents both practical function and exceptional artistic value.
