Provenance: Private Collection, New York, USA.Description: This elegant Ru ware vase follows the classic Yuhuchunping form, featuring a flared mouth, slender neck, gracefully swelling body, and a neatly finished foot. The silhouette is balanced and fluid, with a refined elegance that represents one of the most admired forms in classical Chinese ceramics. The entire interior and exterior are covered with Ru ware’s signature pale sky-blue glaze. The glaze has a soft, jade-like quality with a restrained shine and natural fine crackling throughout, creating a subtle and timeless surface. The slightly thinner glaze along the rim reveals a delicate warm tone of the body beneath, adding depth and character. The interior is also fully glazed, maintaining a harmonious continuity between the inside and outside surfaces. The base is carefully finished and retains five small, neatly arranged spur marks, exposing the light grayish body characteristic of Ru kiln firing techniques. With its refined form, pure surface, and serene celadon tone, this vase perfectly reflects the Song dynasty aesthetic of “beauty through simplicity.” It is a distinguished example of Song dynasty Ru ware and a highly representative decorative vessel of early Chinese celadon artistry.
