Provenance: Private Collection, Hong Kong.Description: This elegant Yue kiln celadon bowl features a slightly inward-curving rim, rounded lip, full rounded body, and a sturdy circular foot. The overall form is balanced and refined, displaying the graceful proportions typical of mature Yue kiln ceramics. The interior is left undecorated, highlighting the smooth glaze surface and subtle throwing marks from the forming process. The exterior is finely carved with a double layer of upright lotus petal decoration. Each petal is clearly outlined with strong, confident carving lines, creating a layered relief effect, while the darker glaze settling between the petals enhances the three-dimensional appearance. The lotus motif was a classic theme in medieval Chinese ceramics, symbolizing purity and auspiciousness. The entire vessel is covered in a warm yellowish celadon glaze with a rich, smooth texture and soft understated sheen. The foot is carefully trimmed, revealing a dense ceramic body and an old brown kiln mark on the base, adding to its historical character. With its harmonious design, refined carving technique, and elegant glaze, this bowl represents an outstanding example of mature Yue kiln craftsmanship from the Late Tang to Five Dynasties period.
