It features a gently flared petal-shaped rim, softly curved sides, and a neatly formed foot, creating an elegant and balanced silhouette. The entire vessel is covered with a warm ivory-white glaze with a refined and smooth surface. The unglazed rim reveals a natural light beige firing edge, a characteristic feature of Ding kiln upside-down firing techniques. The interior is richly decorated with molded designs, including a continuous geometric border along the rim and carefully arranged scenes of birds, lotus flowers, plants, and aquatic motifs. The central medallion presents a pair of lively fish surrounded by flowing water patterns. The molded decoration is crisp and well-balanced, showing the sophisticated craftsmanship of Ding kiln production. The foot is cleanly cut, with a fine and sturdy white body, while traces of natural earth staining remain on the base. Ding white porcelain represents one of the highest achievements of Song dynasty ceramics, and this piece combines auspicious decorative themes with exceptional craftsmanship and aesthetic refinement, making it a notable example of Northern Song Ding ware for both display and practical use.
