Dimensions: Diameter 13.5 cm (5.3 in, 0.44 ft), Height 2.8 cm (1.1 in, 0.09 ft); Qing Dynasty, Jiaqing Period (19th Century)Condition and Provenance: Good overall condition. The pair remains well preserved with matching forms and decoration. The gilt rims, coral-red enamel ground, famille rose floral and butterfly decoration, and underside marks are all clearly retained. From a private collection in Texas, USA.Description: This elegant pair of flower-shaped plates features a refined scalloped rim with delicate gilt accents, creating a graceful and sophisticated appearance. The entire exterior and interior surfaces are decorated with a warm coral-red enamel ground, displaying a rich and even tone. The interior scenes are painted in famille rose enamels with seasonal flowers and colorful butterflies, including peonies, chrysanthemums, lotus blossoms, and orchids arranged naturally across the surface. The butterflies appear among the flowers with finely layered wings, while the pink, green, blue, and orange enamels blend beautifully through delicate brushwork, conveying wishes of springtime prosperity, beauty, and lasting fortune. The exterior continues the coral-red ground with additional famille rose floral branches and butterfly motifs, creating a harmonious decorative program throughout the pair. The bases are covered with an elegant turquoise-green glaze, each centered with a red enamel seal-script mark reading “Da Qing Jiaqing Nian Zhi,” a typical imperial-style mark of the Jiaqing period.
