Dimensions: Height 19 cm (approximately 7.48 inches, 0.62 feet); 18th century, Qianlong periodCondition & Provenance: Overall well preserved, with a well-balanced form and richly preserved flambé glaze; minor age-appropriate surface wear and natural firing characteristics. Private collection, New York.Description: Finely potted with a dramatic six-lobed foliate rim, the vase rises through a tall, gently waisted neck to a full rounded body divided by six pronounced vertical ribs, continuing downward to a slightly flared foot. The carefully controlled proportions and sculptural profile give the vessel a strong architectural presence characteristic of sophisticated decorative porcelain of the Qianlong period. The exterior is covered in a rich flambé glaze dominated by saturated violet, purple-blue, and brilliant blue tones, enlivened by subtle flashes of crimson. The glaze flows vertically in feathery, streaked patterns, creating a highly dynamic surface. Along the raised ribs, the glaze thins to reveal creamy ivory-colored lines, producing a striking contrast against the surrounding purple and blue and emphasizing the deeply lobed construction of the body. The foliate mouth is similarly covered in richly mottled flambé tones, while the interior transitions from creamy ivory near the rim into deeper reddish-purple coloration below. The base is covered with a pale cream-to-greenish glaze and centered with an incised six-character “Da Qing Qianlong Nian Zhi” seal mark. Combining the unpredictable beauty of high-fired flambé glazing with a precisely articulated lobed form, this vase captures the Qianlong-period fascination with technically ambitious ceramics, bold color effects, and highly refined presentation pieces.
