The finely potted porcelain body, rich purple-brown exterior glaze, and elegant turquoise interior glaze remain well preserved. The six-character blue underglaze Tongzhi reign mark “Da Qing Tongzhi Nian Zhi” on the base is clearly visible and finely written. Provenance: Private Collection, California, USA,Description: This elegant Qing Dynasty Tongzhi imperial-style bowl represents the refined taste and craftsmanship of late Qing court porcelain production. The form is well balanced, featuring a gently flared rim, rounded body, and neatly finished foot, creating the classic shape favored by Qing imperial kilns. The exterior is covered entirely in a rich purple-golden glaze, also known as a brown or aubergine-toned glaze, with a warm reddish-brown color, smooth surface, and even glaze application. A thin white line remains visible along the rim, creating a subtle and sophisticated contrast. The interior is fully covered with a soft turquoise-green glaze, displaying a clean, luminous surface that beautifully complements the darker exterior. The base is carefully finished with a white glazed center decorated with a six-character blue underglaze reign mark reading “Da Qing Tongzhi Nian Zhi” in regular script, a standard mark used on official Tongzhi period wares. Purple-golden glaze is an important traditional high-fired glaze technique that continued to be produced in Qing imperial kilns. The combination of a brown-toned exterior with a turquoise interior became a distinctive category among late Qing court porcelains, often used for palace daily wares. With its refined glaze treatment, precise workmanship, and clear imperial mark, this bowl represents the elegant simplicity and technical excellence of late Qing official ceramics.
