No major cracks, chips, or significant enamel loss are visible. The original two-tone lacquered wooden frame remains intact, including the backing and metal hanging hardware, showing natural age-related patina and minor signs of use. Provenance: Private Collection, Florida, USA,Description: This vertical rectangular famille rose porcelain panel features an elegant figure scene presented in an original black-and-vermilion two-tone lacquered wooden frame with a metal hanging ring, designed as a traditional Chinese interior wall decoration. The panel has a refined white porcelain body and was painted using the celebrated Zhushan New Famille Rose technique, depicting a graceful lady in a garden setting. The composition is quiet and sophisticated, with large green banana leaves on the left, a vermilion garden pillar, pine branches, and floral details creating a refined courtyard atmosphere. At the center, a classical lady sits on an ornate chair, wearing a purple robe with a blue collar. Resting her elbow on the table and supporting her cheek with her hand, she appears thoughtful and serene, conveying the gentle mood of a woman’s autumn contemplation. The desk is arranged with scholarly objects, while a covered porcelain vessel adds further detail to the scene. The flowing garment lines, delicate facial rendering, and warm, elegant color palette demonstrate both the refinement of literati painting and the craftsmanship of porcelain decoration. The upper right section bears a seven-character poetic inscription: “玉容憔悴暮偏饶,罗扇题诗恨未消。不是思情中道绝,秋风昨夜到芭蕉。” Signed “Yishan Qiaozi Wang Dafan and painted during late winter of the Xinwei year,” with a red seal beneath. The combination of poetry, calligraphy, painting, and seal marks represents Wang Dafan’s classic porcelain painting style. Wang Dafan, one of the most important artists associated with the Zhushan Eight Friends, was especially admired for his figure paintings. This work reflects his refined composition, elegant brushwork, and poetic interpretation of traditional themes, representing the finest characteristics of Republican-period Chinese famille rose porcelain art. The original lacquered wooden frame, complete backing, and preserved hanging hardware enhance its presentation value.
