Dimensions and Weight: Height 12.4 cm (4.88 in, 0.41 ft), Width 14.5 cm (5.71 in, 0.48 ft); 15th century,Condition and Provenance: The ewer is well preserved with a complete form, and the original cover fits properly with the vessel. The blue glaze remains rich and luminous with a deep, pure tone, showing natural signs of age and subtle surface wear developed over time. The raised lotus petal decoration remains clear and finely defined, and the six-character blue-and-white reign mark “Da Ming Xuande Nian Zhi” within double circles is well preserved on the base. Provenance: Private Collection, California, USA,Description: This porcelain ewer features a full and elegant body with a restrained short neck and a rounded, swelling form. One side is fitted with a gracefully curved loop handle, while the opposite side features a sculptural spout decorated with scrolling cloud motifs, creating a refined and balanced silhouette. The matching cover has a domed profile topped with a rounded finial, completing the harmonious design. The entire exterior is covered in a rich blue glaze with a smooth, luminous surface and a deep, vibrant tone. The body is decorated with multiple rows of raised upright lotus petal motifs created through relief carving. The petals are arranged in a precise and orderly pattern, layered with strong depth and finely carved details. The lotus motif has long represented purity, harmony, and auspicious meaning in Chinese decorative arts and was widely used on imperial wares. The foot is carefully finished with an exposed edge, while the recessed base is covered in white glaze and painted with the six-character regular-script mark “Da Ming Xuande Nian Zhi” in underglaze blue within double circles. The cover matches the glaze and design of the body. With its refined form, brilliant blue glaze, and elegant relief decoration, this Xuande-period style ewer represents the sophisticated craftsmanship and artistic beauty of Ming dynasty blue-glazed porcelain, making it suitable for both collection and refined display.
