Provenance: Private Collection, California, USA,Description: This Ming Dynasty blue and white bowl features a balanced and elegant form with a slightly flared rim, rounded body, and neatly finished foot, representing the classic Luohan bowl shape. The interior is covered with a pure white glaze with a smooth and luminous surface. The exterior is richly decorated with powerful waves painted in deep cobalt blue. The rolling waves are rendered with strong brushwork, while the white dragon emerges among the waves, creating a striking contrast between the white reserved areas and the deep blue background. The composition symbolizes the “dragon emerging from the sea” and represents one of the most admired decorative themes found in imperial porcelain traditions of the Yongle and Xuande periods. The foot is carefully finished, revealing a fine and dense porcelain body at the unglazed edge. The base is covered with white glaze and painted in underglaze blue with a double-circle six-character Xuande mark reading “Da Ming Xuande Nian Zhi.” The glaze surface shows subtle natural aging characteristics developed over time. This finely crafted piece combines the refined craftsmanship of imperial-style porcelain with a timeless classical elegance, making it highly suitable for collection and display.
