Provenance: Private Collection, Washington State, USA.Description: This exceptional ancient jade ornament is a complete ritual pendant set composed of four jade plaques, numerous agate beads, and bamboo-shaped jade tubes, representing the ceremonial jewelry worn by elite members of pre-Qin society. The four main curved jade plaques are carved from fine Hetian green jade, each displaying naturally developed areas of brown and gray alteration. Both sides are decorated with openwork dragon and phoenix motifs, featuring elegant flowing lines created through traditional reduction carving and fine incised techniques. The edges are shaped with decorative projections, while drilled openings allow the pieces to be connected into the complete pendant structure. The symmetrical composition, powerful carving style, and refined workmanship reflect the artistic characteristics of Warring States period jade craftsmanship. The necklace is assembled with numerous polished red agate beads displaying rich orange-red to deep wine-red tones, combined with multiple green bamboo-shaped Hetian jade tubes that create a sophisticated contrast of warm and cool colors. The beads and jade components are carefully arranged in layers, forming a graceful hanging structure with the four jade plaques suspended in sequence. In ancient China, such ritual pendants produced harmonious sounds while worn during movement and were used to regulate ceremonial steps, symbolizing social rank, refinement, and ritual authority. Complete examples of this type are extremely rare, offering exceptional historical importance, artistic value, and collector appeal.
