The silver repoussé protective mount around the neck and mouth remains well preserved, representing a later historical modification and protective addition. Provenance: Private Collection, New York, USA.Description: This elegant Yuhuchun vase follows one of the most classic Chinese porcelain forms, featuring a slender curved body, a graceful narrow neck, and a refined flared rim. The mouth and neck are fitted with a later silver repoussé protective mount, decorated with engraved leaf-vein patterns and geometric borders, reflecting a traditional later preservation technique. The entire surface is richly painted in layered cobalt-blue decoration with carefully balanced composition. The transition between the neck and body features framed cloud motifs and a band of coin-pattern decoration. The main body presents a charming lotus pond scene with paired mandarin ducks swimming among blooming lotus flowers, flowing leaves, rippling water, and natural vegetation. The birds are rendered with lively movement, creating an elegant and harmonious garden scene. The lower section is decorated with scrolling vines and stylized lotus petals filled with spiral cloud motifs, a distinctive decorative feature of the period. The cobalt blue is vibrant and expressive, with confident brushwork and well-balanced decorative arrangement. The porcelain body is strong, the glaze has a soft luminous quality, and the unglazed foot displays the natural texture and aging of early porcelain. Symbolizing harmony, love, and prosperity, the lotus pond and mandarin duck motif has long been admired in Chinese decorative arts. Combining classic Ming blue-and-white porcelain artistry with a later silver protective mount, this vase represents both historical craftsmanship and a unique collecting character.
