Minor firing characteristics and age-related marks are present, consistent with an ancient ceramic object. The sculptural decoration remains clear, and the original kiln structure at the base is preserved. Provenance: Private Collection, Hong Kong.Description: This exceptional ceramic pillow is covered in a luminous green glaze with fine natural crackling across the surface. The gray-white clay body reflects the traditional construction of ancient Chinese ceramic pillows. The pillow top is shaped like a graceful lotus leaf with gently undulating edges, decorated with carved flowering peony branches featuring flowing lines and full, elegant leaves. The main support is beautifully molded with two peaceful children seated together, accompanied by a powerful coiling auspicious dragon. The dragon is richly decorated with scrolling cloud patterns, creating a strong three-dimensional effect. The lower section rests on a hexagonal Sumeru-style base decorated with molded diamond-pattern textile motifs, giving the piece a refined and balanced appearance. The openwork base and small supporting feet were designed as part of the original firing structure. The imagery combines multiple auspicious symbols: children representing harmony and good fortune, the dragon symbolizing prosperity and protection, and peonies representing wealth and abundance. With its layered sculptural design and combination of molding and carved decoration, this green-glazed ceramic pillow is a charming and highly decorative example of Song dynasty ceramic craftsmanship.
