The vessel features the classic double-gourd silhouette with a smaller upper bulb and a fuller lower bulb, connected by a clearly defined waist and a gracefully flowing profile. The decoration is arranged in carefully balanced horizontal sections. The mouth is encircled with a traditional key-fret pattern, followed by pendant lotus petals. The upper bulb is decorated with a continuous lotus scroll, featuring beautifully rendered blossoms and curling vines. The waist is accented with a stylized lotus petal band, while the lower bulb displays alternating ruyi-shaped lattice motifs and another continuous lotus scroll design. The base is finished with a band of elegant scrolling foliage patterns. The cobalt blue decoration is rich and confident, creating a striking contrast against the white porcelain body. The brushwork is fluid and precise, with strong movement in the floral outlines and leaves. The warm glaze, aged body, and visible wheel marks at the foot highlight the craftsmanship of early Ming porcelain production. The double-gourd form symbolizes “fu lu,” meaning blessings and prosperity, while the lotus scroll represents purity and enduring fortune. This type of blue-and-white vessel was highly valued as an elegant decorative object combining artistic beauty and auspicious meaning.
