Provenance: Private Collection, California, USA.Description: This finely cast bronze censer is crafted in the classic bowl form, featuring a rounded body, gently waisted profile, and a lotus-petal base. The balanced proportions and soft contours create a calm and contemplative aesthetic associated with Buddhist ritual furnishings. The upper rim is decorated with a raised double band of upward-facing lotus petals and ruyi motifs, carved with precise and orderly details that continue around the vessel. The lower section features another layer of overlapping lotus petals, creating a harmonious relationship between the upper and lower decorative elements. The central body is intentionally left undecorated, allowing the rich bronze texture and naturally aged surface to become the focus. The warm antique brown tone, layered patina, and traces of historical use give the censer a refined sense of age. The spacious interior shows natural green bronze oxidation accumulated over time. The base is framed by lotus petals with a central square recessed area bearing the raised six-character “Da Ming Xuande Nian Zhi” mark in a dignified style. With its heavy casting, refined relief decoration, and elegant Buddhist-inspired design, this censer represents the enduring craftsmanship and aesthetic tradition of Xuande-period bronze ritual objects.
