Measurements: 18th Century (Qianlong Period) H. approx. 6 cm / 2.36 in; W. approx. 4.5 cm / 1.77 in; Weight: 54 g / 1.9 oz,Condition & Provenance: Overall in good condition. The enamel surface retains a smooth and natural luster with minor signs of age and gentle wear consistent with historical use. The copper body remains structurally sound, and the gilt decoration is well preserved. Provenance: From a private collection in California, USA.Description: This finely crafted imperial snuff bottle is made with a classic flattened circular form, featuring a copper body with a rounded profile, gently compressed shoulders, and an oval foot. The bottle is fitted with a gilt engraved cover and a small gilt spoon inside, displaying a refined and elegant construction. The rim and foot are highlighted with gilt decoration, while the neck is decorated with layered bands of blue, pink, and green enamel featuring linked motifs and geometric patterns. The exterior is richly decorated with painted enamel, combining European scrollwork, peonies, and floral ornaments. The central panels are framed with Rococo-style foliate borders and depict a charming European pastoral scene: two Western women relaxing in a countryside setting, one holding a fruit basket while another interacts with a child, accompanied by a hunting dog. The background features rolling landscapes, trees, and water views, creating a distinctly European atmosphere. The delicate facial expressions, detailed garments, and carefully rendered perspective reveal the influence of Western painting techniques introduced into Qing imperial workshops. The vibrant palette of pink, green, blue, red, and yellow enamels creates a luxurious and harmonious effect. The base is decorated with a white enamel ground and bears a blue four-character Qianlong mark. As an important category of Qing imperial works, copper-body painted enamel snuff bottles featuring Western themes represent the remarkable artistic exchange between China and Europe, combining exceptional craftsmanship with strong historical and collectible significance.
