Provenance: Private Collection, Hong Kong.Description: This elegant blue and white stem bowl features a flared rim, rounded body, and a tall bamboo-section style stem foot. The stem is decorated with raised horizontal bands imitating bamboo joints, creating a graceful and balanced silhouette. The entire vessel is covered with a soft blue-white glaze with a luminous surface. The exterior is painted with a powerful dragon design, showing a dynamic dragon with a strong body, flowing mane, clearly defined scales and claws, moving among swirling clouds. The cobalt blue decoration displays rich tones with natural variations and subtle bleeding, reflecting the expressive brushwork of early blue and white porcelain. The interior is decorated with a floral motif at the center and scrolling borders along the rim, creating harmony between the interior and exterior decoration. The aged rim wear, exposed foot, and natural traces of earth staining enhance the historic character of this piece. The bamboo-section stem form was a classic style from the Yuan period through the early Ming dynasty, and the impressive dragon motif, distinctive blue tones, and archaic painting style make this an important example of early Chinese blue and white porcelain with strong artistic and historical value.
