The bead remains well preserved with strong historical character. Provenance: Private Collection, California, USA.Description: This Warring States period eye bead features a full, rounded form made from deep black glass. The entire surface is decorated with layered composite eye motifs created with ivory and yellow-brown glass elements. Numerous eye patterns are arranged across the body in a dense yet orderly composition, creating a rich visual effect. The bead has a central perforation with thick walls, showing natural soil accumulation and aged wear around the opening. After centuries of burial, the surface developed a heavy weathered layer, with traces of erosion on the applied decoration, deepened colors, and a refined ancient patina. Eye beads were highly valued ornaments among elites during the pre-Qin period, and this example is notable for its abundant eye motifs, excellent preservation, and strong historical and collectible appeal.
