The vessel has a full and elegant silhouette, with a circular opening at the top and a molded floral stem detail at the base, showcasing the Tang period’s sophisticated approach to naturalistic design. The surface is covered with vibrant sancai glaze in flowing shades of yellow, green, and blue, creating a richly layered and spontaneous color effect. Fine crackling across the glaze and areas of natural glaze wear reflect its age and historic character. Originally used as a scholar’s studio vessel for holding water, this type of Tang sancai figural object is relatively uncommon. With its lively form, expressive glaze palette, and distinctive Tang artistic style, it represents a remarkable example of early Chinese ceramic craftsmanship and remains highly desirable among collectors.
