The original fitted cover is topped with a rounded jewel-shaped finial, creating a balanced and elegant silhouette. The entire vessel is covered in a rich brown glaze with a thick, glossy surface. During firing, the glaze naturally flowed to create dark brown and blackish kiln-transformed bands, producing a lively and organic contrast between the warm brown ground and darker flowing markings. One side of the body features a molded applied decoration, adding a subtle archaic character to the overall design. The rim and foot reveal the unglazed clay body, showing a coarse yet sturdy grayish-white ceramic material. The underside preserves wheel marks, while the aged surface and natural earth staining enhance its historic appearance. The interior is covered with a dark glaze. With its substantial form, complete original cover, and distinctive kiln-transformed glaze effects, this jar represents the practical yet artistic character of northern Chinese folk kilns and offers strong appeal for both display and collection.
