The body is covered with a warm ivory glaze and decorated with expressive black-brown painted designs. Multiple brown painted lines decorate the inner and outer rim with a precise and rhythmic arrangement. The interior features a charming bird-and-floral composition, with a bird perched among flowering branches, surrounded by freely painted blossoms and foliage. The exterior is decorated with scrolling floral branches rendered in confident, spontaneous brushwork. The exposed foot reveals the natural clay body, wheel-cut marks, and an aged surface developed over centuries. Jizhou kiln black-painted decoration inherited influences from Cizhou ware while maintaining its own distinctive folk artistic character, known for its lively brushwork and natural expression. This example preserves the unique charm of Song dynasty ceramic artistry and represents a highly collectible example of Jizhou kiln production.
