Provenance: Private Collection, New York, USA,Description: This rare pair of Ru kiln washers is crafted in an elegant floral lotus-petal form, with gently undulating rims and raised petal divisions following the body of the vessel. The graceful silhouette reflects the refined taste of Song Dynasty literati and was traditionally used as a brush washer, incense tray, or elegant scholar’s object. The entire surface is covered with the signature Ru kiln sky-blue glaze, featuring a soft and even tone, delicate natural crackling, and a warm jade-like luster. The thin glaze along the rim reveals a subtle brownish tone of the ceramic body, creating a naturally aged and refined appearance. The floral-shaped bases preserve three delicate spur marks, an important characteristic of Ru kiln firing methods. Preserved as a matching pair with consistent proportions and glaze color, these pieces represent the quiet elegance and sophisticated aesthetics of Song Dynasty imperial ceramics.
