Description:This covered jar is an important imperial porcelain from Jingdezhen official kiln of Jiajing reign, Ming dynasty. It possesses a robust full silhouette with short neck, broad shoulder, tapering lower belly and domed cover topped with pearl‑shaped knob. Painted in yellow enamel against rich iron‑red ground, the colour contrast is sumptuous. The cover is decorated with scrolling floral patterns. Main body features powerful flying dragons amid layered auspicious clouds, above craggy rocks and surging sea waves. Dense, layered composition represents typical Jiajing imperial decorative style. Base bears six‑character underglaze‑blue reign mark “Da Ming Jia Jing Nian Zhi” in regular script. Thick solid porcelain body paired with smooth glaze. Red‑ground yellow‑enamel wares were mostly produced for imperial worship and palace display. Favoured by the Daoist‑minded Jiajing emperor, fully‑decorated large jars of this type are rare survivals, embodying outstanding mid‑Ming polychrome porcelain craftsmanship with significant historical and artistic value.
