The vessel features a large and monumental form, composed of a rounded lower jar body and an elaborate multi-tiered molded architectural upper section. The body has a flared mouth, full rounded shoulders, and a gently tapered lower section ending in an exposed flat base. It is covered overall with a gray-green celadon glaze, displaying fine kiln speckling, uneven glaze accumulation, natural surface erosion, and a restrained antique luster developed over centuries. The exterior is decorated with molded appliqué motifs including auspicious animals, mounted figures, and cloud patterns arranged around the vessel in relief with clearly defined contours. Above the jar mouth rises an intricate three-dimensional structure featuring layered pavilions, double-eaved towers, raised rooflines, and openwork windows. The middle sections are populated with molded musicians, birds, architectural elements, and standing attendants, creating a lively miniature representation of elite residences, ritual performances, and social scenes of the Six Dynasties period. The piece combines multiple ceramic techniques including molding, sculpting, appliqué decoration, and openwork carving. The exposed gray-brown clay base reveals wheel marks and accumulated soil patina, further enhancing its historical character. With its impressive scale, complex decoration, and strong funerary symbolism representing abundance and the journey of the spirit, this Yue kiln granary jar represents one of the most significant forms of Six Dynasties ceramic art.
