Provenance: Private Collection, California, USA.Description: This is a large Liao Dynasty sancai molded floral pattern dish, made with the low-fired lead-glazed ceramic technique characteristic of the Liao region. The dish features a broad flared rim, shallow curved body, and raised foot, presenting a well-balanced and imposing form. The interior is richly decorated with molded designs arranged in multiple layers. The center is covered with green glaze and features a molded auspicious geometric pattern outlined in yellow-brown pigment with white accents. Surrounding it are swirling vine-scroll bands combining yellow and green tones, creating a dynamic sense of movement. The outer register is decorated with lotus-petal panels containing molded floral motifs, while the rim is finished with geometric triangular designs in alternating yellow, green, and white colors. The glaze colors remain vivid and elegant, with warm yellow tones and rich green glaze blending naturally across the surface. Fine natural crazing covers the glaze, showing the distinctive decorative character of Liao Dynasty ceramics. The underside is covered with yellow glaze, while the foot remains unglazed, revealing the yellowish ceramic body with clear wheel-cut marks and traces of aged soil deposits. Large Liao sancai dishes of this scale are rare, and this example preserves an impressive molded decoration, rich color layering, and strong historical and artistic value.
