The base retains the fully glazed wrapped foot firing style with three fine sesame-dot support marks, a delicate foot finish, and refined ceramic body. Provenance: Private Collection, New York, USA.Description: This Northern Song Ru kiln sky-blue glazed dish features a wide mouth, shallow curved body, and a softly rounded rim. The elegant and restrained silhouette represents the classic form of Ru kiln scholar wares. The entire piece is covered in a refined sky-blue glaze with a gentle jade-like texture, displaying the famous “rain-washed sky” tone associated with Ru ware. The glaze is smooth, luminous, and quietly elegant, with a subtle opaque quality. The center reveals faint throwing marks, while tiny natural glaze bubbles remain visible from the original firing process. The slightly thinner glaze along the rim reveals a delicate warm-toned edge, adding to its understated beauty. The fully glazed wrapped foot preserves three small sesame-dot firing support marks, a signature feature of Ru kiln production. Ru kiln is regarded as the foremost among the Five Great Song Dynasty Kilns, with an extremely limited production period and exceptionally rare surviving examples. With its elegant form, pure glaze color, and authentic firing characteristics, this dish embodies the highest aesthetic achievement of Song imperial ceramics and represents a highly important object for both collection and scholarly research.
