It features a wide open mouth, short neck, rounded shoulder, deep cylindrical body, gently tapered lower section, flat base, and symmetrical side handles formed by hand shaping. The sturdy and practical design reflects its original function as a storage vessel for everyday use. The entire vessel is covered with a rich brown glaze, showing a warm reddish-brown tone with a smooth glossy surface. Natural glaze movement during firing created subtle variations in color, while the interior reveals clear wheel-turning marks. The glaze flows naturally from the rim down toward the lower body, creating a beautiful sense of depth and movement. The exposed foot reveals a grayish-white clay body with concentric trimming lines and traces of traditional craftsmanship, along with natural soil staining and surface wear accumulated over time. Cizhou kiln represents one of the most important northern Chinese folk ceramic traditions, and brown glaze wares are among its classic categories. With its complete form, well-preserved twin handles, naturally aged glaze, and authentic kiln characteristics, this jar offers both historical significance and strong decorative appeal.
