Provenance: Private Collection, New York, USA.Description: This Xuande period blue and white high-footed lamp ewer is an elegant and rare form of early Ming functional porcelain. The vessel is crafted as a unified composition consisting of the ewer body, raised stem, and supporting tray, creating a distinctive silhouette associated with traditional oil lamps. The small opening leads into a full rounded body, with a straight pouring spout on one side and a graceful curved handle on the other. The raised waisted stem rests within an open circular tray, giving the entire piece a balanced and refined appearance. The surface is richly decorated in underglaze blue with flowing botanical scroll motifs. The body, spout, and stem are covered with dynamic feather-like floral scroll patterns, executed with confident brushwork. The cobalt blue displays a strong and vivid tone, with natural iron spotting adding depth and character. The shoulder bears a blue and white six-character Xuande reign mark reading “Da Ming Xuande Nian Zhi.”The rim of the tray is decorated with geometric bead patterns, while the exterior and interior continue with connected floral scroll designs, creating a harmonious decorative composition. The glaze is bright and smooth, with a warm white tone contrasting beautifully with the deep blue decoration. The foot is carefully finished, and the body remains structurally complete. Combining practical function with refined artistic decoration, this rare blue and white lamp ewer represents the sophisticated craftsmanship of Xuande imperial porcelain and is highly desirable among collectors.
