The vessel follows the classic paper hammer bottle form, featuring a straight mouth, slender elongated neck, gently expanding shoulder, cylindrical body, and a stable flat base. The entire surface is covered with a soft sky-blue glaze, displaying the elegant and understated beauty associated with Ru ware. The glaze has developed a natural network of fine ice-crack patterns across the entire vessel. The glaze layer is even and refined, while subtle yellowish earth staining around the rim and edges reflects the passage of centuries. The surface has a quiet, silky luster often described as the characteristic “buttery glow” of Ru ware. The flat base preserves three delicate spur marks with exposed light gray clay, representing a distinctive firing technique of Ru kiln ceramics. With its restrained silhouette, elegant proportions, and scholarly aesthetic, this bottle represents the refined taste of Song dynasty literati culture and remains one of the most admired forms among classical Chinese ceramics.
