The glaze remains well preserved with natural kiln-transformation speckles and minor traces of age consistent with its history. The gold-painted imperial inscription dated to the Qianlong Yisi year on the base remains clearly visible. Provenance: Private Collection, Texas, USAD，escription: This Langyao red glazed mallet-shaped vase measures 21.2 cm in height and 6.2 cm in mouth diameter. The vase features a tall straight neck that gently flares outward, a rounded shoulder, a full compressed body, and an elegantly flared foot. This classic Qianlong decorative form is refined and balanced, traditionally known as a mallet-shaped vase. The entire surface is covered in a rich Langyao red glaze, displaying a deep and luminous crimson tone with delicate kiln-transformed speckling throughout. The glaze has a smooth, glossy surface with a warm inner brilliance. The rim reveals a thin white “lantern wick” edge, while the interior is covered with white glaze and the exterior of the foot continues the red glaze decoration. The white-glazed base is decorated with a gold-painted imperial poem inscription from the Qianlong Yisi year, accompanied by two gold seals. The inscription is carefully arranged and executed with exceptional precision. Langyao red glaze was famously difficult to achieve, giving rise to the saying that “one could go broke firing Lang red.” This exceptional vase combines a prestigious imperial glaze with a Qianlong imperial inscription, representing the refined taste and craftsmanship of Qing court decorative porcelain. It is a highly desirable example of imperial-style ceramics with both artistic and historical significance.
