It features the classic zhadou form with a flared rim, narrow neck, compressed rounded body, and a sturdy foot, displaying the elegant and balanced proportions characteristic of Northern Song literati wares. The entire vessel is covered in Ru kiln’s iconic pale sky-blue glaze, with delicate natural crazing throughout. The glaze has a soft jade-like quality with a subtle inner glow. The neck and rim are fitted with a copper mounting, which has developed a rich reddish-green aged patina over time, adding to the historical character of the piece. Earth-toned encrustations and mineral traces are visible on the exterior body and foot, reflecting the passage of centuries. The interior is fully glazed in the same refined Tianqing tone, while the glazed foot displays natural aging and traces of burial or long-term preservation. Ru kiln is regarded as the foremost among the Five Great Kilns of the Song Dynasty, with an extremely limited production period and exceptionally rare surviving examples. This complete and elegant zhadou represents the refined taste of Song dynasty ceramics and holds significant artistic and historical importance.
