Condition & Provenance：Complete condition, no cracks or chips on mouth, body and foot‑ring. Well‑preserved cobalt and underglaze‑red pigments, intact open‑carved sections, natural aged traces on base, no restoration, no chemical cleaning. From private collection of S·M, Los Angeles, California, USA. Acquired in 2018, family inheritance under climate‑controlled storage, never appeared in public auction or museum exhibition. Description：This is an important Yuan‑dynasty plum vase combining blue‑and‑white, underglaze‑red, open‑work carving and applied‑moulding techniques. It follows classic meiping form with small rolled‑lip mouth, short neck, full broad shoulder, tapering belly and substantial foot‑ring. The neck is decorated with scrolling‑grass border. Shoulder is covered by exuberant blue‑and‑white interlocking lotus scrolls. Four rhombus‑floral shaped panels are opened on belly, outlined by faint underglaze‑red. Inside each panel lies multi‑layer open‑carved and applied floral decoration with partial underglaze‑red colouring, creating translucent layered visual effect. The background outside panels is painted with blue‑and‑white scrolling ruyi patterns. Lower part near foot adopts multi‑band decoration: upper coin‑pattern brocade band, followed by stylized upward lotus‑petal band filled with ruyi clouds, typical Yuan‑dynasty ornamental layout. The base is unglazed sandy foot with robust clay texture and natural kiln discoloration and earth patina. Firing blue‑and‑white together with underglaze‑red was extremely difficult in Yuan period, especially for open‑carved wares with low yield rate. This piece integrates painting, carving and dual‑colour underglaze decoration, with grand dense composition and distinct layers. It represents supreme comprehensive craftsmanship of Yuan porcelain artisans, being a rare surviving specimen of great historical, technical and collectible significance.
