Description:An imperial Qianlong famille‑rose bag‑form vase (baofu ping). The foliated gilt‑edged rim imitates the opening of a fabric sack, with a three‑dimensional moulded and enamelled ribbon‑knot tied around the neck. The interior is covered in turquoise glaze with fine crackle. The exterior bright yellow ground is painted in rich famille‑rose enamels with a magnificent phoenix amid peonies and swirling clouds. The phoenix is rendered with meticulously layered, multi‑hued plumage; large full‑blown peonies and foliage symbolize prosperity and auspiciousness. A small incised “Qianlong nian zhi” mark appears on the body, the foot rim finished with gilding. Combining moulding, relief sculpture, enamel painting and gilding, this piece exemplifies the sophisticated artistry of Qianlong imperial porcelain.
