The exterior rim is decorated with key‑fret border, main exterior surface is painted with stylised composite lotus petals interspersed with scrolling tendrils. The bowl’s interior centre is painted with an elaborate composite flower encircled by key‑fret band, further surrounded by scrolling foliage. Painted with Xuande imported cobalt pigment, the blue colour is saturated with natural iron rust specks, executed with confident brushwork. Composite precious flower is an auspicious Buddhist motif symbolising purity and solemnity. Fine‑grained body, well‑organised layered decoration, such small Xuande official‑ware bowls are rare on market, possessing great collecting significance.
