Dimensions: Diam. 38.5 cm (15 1/8 in), 15th‑century Yongle reign, Ming dynasty Condition & Provenance: Condition: Fully intact, no chips, cracks or restoration. Flared rim, shallow curved body, unglazed sandy base. Central well painted with iconic “bound‑lotus” motif: lotus bloom, seed‑pods, water‑plants tied together with flowing ribbon, symbolizing integrity and virtue. Inner wall densely decorated with scrolling seasonal flowers. Rim border rendered with dynamic ocean‑wave patterns. Painted with imported Sumali cobalt, rich saturated blue with embedded iron‑rust specks beneath glaze, fluid and confident brushwork, grand balanced composition. Unglazed base shows fine sandy texture and gentle wear from centuries of handling. Provenance: Long‑established West‑Coast private collection, USA. Acquired abroad 1949, consigned for auction by family estate in 2026. Description: Canonical Yongle imperial blue‑and‑white porcelain. The bound‑lotus bouquet formed a favoured imperial Yongle‑Xuande design for court ceremonies and banquets.
