Provenance: Private collection, California, USA. Description: This elegant scholar's table screen is crafted from fine rosewood with a dense grain, deep and elegant color, and natural signs of age. The rectangular frame is decorated with traditional carvings, and the side supports are adorned with scrolling patterns. The lower part features two intricately carved dragons encircling the character "寿" (longevity), symbolizing good fortune and long life, while the openwork ruyi cloud pattern on the base adds a touch of classical charm. The central panel is inlaid with a natural cloud-patterned marble slab, with deep green, blue-gray, and warm brown mineral veining meandering across the ivory background. These naturally formed patterns resemble distant mountains, layered peaks, and swirling mists, forming a landscape painting sculpted by nature's masterful hand. This piece skillfully blends the beauty of natural stone with traditional Chinese wood carving techniques, making it an elegant and refined decorative item suitable for appreciation in a study.
