Dimensions: Height 20.5 cm (8.07 in). Width 11 cm (4.33 in.), Weight 1165 g, 475–221 BC. Condition and Provenance: This exquisite multi-part jade vase retains its original structure intact, including the movable arched handle, removable lid, and one-piece body. There is no major damage to the body, and no modern restorations or replacements. All openwork reliefs, movable rings, and mythical beast-shaped knobs are original. The jade surface exhibits a deep, natural, earthy reddish-brown hue that has penetrated the jade. Fine signs of age, wear, and subtle buried cracks are visible in the high-relief details and internal cavities. There is no artificial dyeing, chemical treatment, or recarving of decorative patterns. This superior Warring States period jade ritual object comes from a private collector in California who has a long history of collecting high-end ancient Chinese jade. It was acquired in the mid-1990s by a renowned Asian antiques gallery in San Francisco and has remained in the private collection ever since. The original acquisition documents, conservation assessment reports, and archival reference photographs are all well-preserved and have been categorized under Warring States period jade artifacts. Its complete provenance is clearly traceable. Description: This exquisite Warring States period jade-handled vase is a masterpiece of ancient Chinese jade craftsmanship. It is meticulously carved from nephrite jade, employing complex techniques that integrate deep relief carving, openwork carving, and movable ring structures. The vase has a dome-shaped lid adorned with a lifelike mythical beast-shaped knob. The body is decorated with intertwined dragon patterns; arched movable handles are connected by movable rings on both sides; the neck of the vase is decorated with a raised deer-shaped pattern surrounded by winding scrolling grass patterns. The vase body is densely covered with layered relief carvings, with interwoven dragon patterns, spiral patterns, and mythical beast motifs densely covering every surface; the inner wall of the vase is exquisitely crafted and smooth. These jade vases with handles represent the highest level of craftsmanship among the aristocratic class during the Warring States period. Jade vases with well-preserved handles and intact lids are extremely rare among unearthed cultural relics. They provide irreplaceable material for the study of jade carving techniques, ritual objects, and aristocratic aesthetic culture during the Warring States period, and have extremely high archaeological and historical value, museum-level value as precious exhibits, and top-tier antique collection value.
