拍品描述
Dimensions: Height 15 cm (5.9 inches), maximum diameter of body 17 cm (6.7 inches), 11th century. Condition and provenance: Overall well-preserved, lid and body intact. Natural signs of aging, surface wear, and soil deposits are present on the spout, handle, and base. The glaze is soft and warm, retaining the natural characteristics of kiln firing. Provenance: Private collection, New York, USA. Description: This Northern Song Dynasty white-glazed carved ewer has a beautifully rounded shape, a spherical body, a short, straight spout, and a curved handle. It comes with its original lid. The lid is decorated with radiating lotus petal patterns, topped with a finely carved bird-shaped knob; the bird's outline is vivid, and the feather details are clear. The shoulder is decorated with layered, upright lotus patterns, while the body is carved with flowing, balanced lotus scroll patterns. The interior retains traces of the original forming process, and the rim and handle show natural aging surface characteristics. The short spout has a simple and smooth design, and the curved handle connects naturally to the body. The foot rim is unglazed, revealing the light gray body, kiln marks, and firing traces. The entire piece is covered with a smooth, delicate white glaze, with the carved patterns faintly visible. This vessel is well-proportioned, exquisitely carved, and adorned with a bird-shaped top, making it a quintessential example of early Chinese white-glazed ceramic kettles.
