拍品描述
Dimensions: Porcelain Guanyin statue, 40 cm (15.75 inches) high, 30 cm (11.81 inches) wide, dating from the 10th to 13th centuries. Condition and Provenance: This set of Buddhist statues comprises an ancient carved wooden shrine and a freestanding porcelain Guanyin statue, with a detachable ceramic lotus pedestal. The wooden shrine retains its original openwork carvings, circular "Tathagata" inscription, and faded red lacquer; cracks, partial paint peeling, and surface wear due to its age are consistent with long-term worship, and no obvious modern restorations or replacements are observed. The porcelain Guanyin statue is largely intact; the crown, mouth ornament, robe, and facial features are well-preserved, with only discoloration and soil crusting caused by natural burial. No major restorations or modern repaintings are observed. All engravings and firing marks are genuine Song Dynasty works. This set of Buddhist statues comes from a highly regarded private collector in Bangkok specializing in East Asian religious art. Acquired in the early 1990s by an Asian art dealer, it has remained in the private collection ever since. The original acquisition documents, condition reports, and archival photographs are fully documented, and the set is categorized as a Song Dynasty Buddhist statue set. Its provenance is reliable and traceable. Description: This complete Song Dynasty Buddhist statue set includes an exquisitely carved wooden household shrine, a celadon seated Guanyin statue, and its ceramic lotus pedestal. The wooden shrine, in the traditional Chinese architectural style, features a gabled roof adorned with relief floral patterns and Buddhist scroll texts, and was made specifically for family worship. The porcelain Guanyin statue is seated on a lotus, holding a sacred vase in her hands, wearing a magnificent crown and layered beaded ornaments around her neck; the pleats of her robe flow naturally, and her face is serene. The separately sculpted clay lotus pedestal echoes traditional Buddhist imagery. Complete original Song Dynasty wooden shrines with matching porcelain statues are extremely rare in private collections. This set of Buddhist statues provides irreplaceable material evidence for the study of folk Buddhist beliefs, wood carving techniques, and ceramic Buddhist statues in the Song Dynasty. It has extremely high exhibition value, religious and cultural significance, and high-end antique collection value.
