Description: This Southern Song Dynasty Longquan celadon covered jar is a masterpiece of traditional Chinese ceramic craftsmanship. The jar measures 12.8 cm in diameter and 10.5 cm in height. The body and lid fit perfectly, forming an arched shape with a slightly inward-curving mouth, a rounded belly, and a delicate foot. The overall shape is symmetrical and elegant. The entire piece is covered in a soft, translucent pale green glaze, smooth and delicate, showcasing the understated beauty characteristic of Longquan porcelain. The exterior is decorated with overlapping lotus petal patterns that vertically encircle the body; the depth of the patterns is well-controlled, and the lines are fluid and beautiful. The arched lid is also decorated with lotus petal patterns, and the top is adorned with a small, round button that fits perfectly with the body of the vessel. At the rim and foot, the glaze thins, revealing natural reddish-brown firing marks. The foot is finely finished, and the exposed portion shows traces of clay accumulated over time. The vessel is glazed inside and out, showcasing the jade-like translucency of Longquan celadon and embodying the elegant and simple beauty of Song Dynasty decorative ceramics. With its classic lotus motif and excellent condition, this piece fully demonstrates the refined aesthetics of Southern Song Dynasty literati and their everyday objects.
