Dimensions: Length 23 cm (9.06 inches), Height 17 cm (6.69 inches), Weight 2165 g, circa 13th-10th century BC. Condition and Provenance: This jade piece is in excellent overall condition. The surface of the Hetian jade exhibits a large area of natural brown patina and deep traces of age, with some areas faintly showing its original warm yellow color. The jade surface has a natural, mature luster, and the original lid and body are well preserved. Provenance: Private collection, California, USA. Description: This ancient Hetian jade wild boar-shaped lid is 23 cm long, 17 cm high, and weighs 2165 g. The body is carved in the shape of an ancient wild boar, and it is an early jade ritual object. Over the centuries, the jade has developed a rich, deep brown patina, with some areas faintly showing its original warm yellow color, adding to its antique charm. The jade piece is depicted standing, with a robust body, powerful limbs, an extended snout, exposed tusks, and finely carved facial details. The back is adorned with carved mane, giving the animal a vivid and powerful expression. The hollow body is fitted with a matching lid, topped with a small boar-shaped knob that echoes the main design. The entire body is decorated with simple and elegant patterns, including stylized animal masks, kui dragon motifs, and meander patterns, with flowing and graceful lines. The realistic animal form combined with ritual craftsmanship reflects the characteristics of early Chinese ritual art. This Hetian jade piece is substantial in form, has a mature patina, and is exquisitely carved, making it an ancient ritual object of great historical value.
