Dimensions: Overall height 27 cm (10.63 inches), maximum diameter 35 cm (13.78 inches), weight 5.4 kg; Period: 10th-12th century. Condition and Provenance: This ding (a type of ancient Chinese bronze vessel) is intact, with its original lid and three flattened legs. Most of the gilding on the lid and upper rim is well preserved. The lower bronze body is covered with verdigris, rust, and soil patina caused by burial. There are no signs of modern restoration, artificial gilding, or chemical cleaning. All metal surfaces retain the natural patina from ancient burial. This gilded bronze ding comes from a renowned private collector in California specializing in ancient bronzes of the nomadic style of northern China. It was acquired in the early 1990s by a well-known Asian antique dealer in Los Angeles and has remained in the private collection ever since. The original acquisition documents, restoration reports, and archival photographs are fully archived, and it is classified as a Liao Dynasty gilded bronze ritual vessel. The provenance of this piece is complete and traceable. Description: This large gilded bronze tripod is a typical ritual and practical vessel from the nomadic culture of the Liao Dynasty. The vessel consists of a domed gilded lid (adorned with a spherical knob), a wide rolled rim, and a rounded body, supported by three sturdy flat legs. The lid and upper gilding are well-preserved, while the lower part exhibits a thick layer of natural patina.
