Description: This Ru ware sky-blue glazed incense burner, decorated with a dragon-shaped top ornament and lotus petal patterns, is an outstanding example of Song dynasty ceramic sculpture. This incense burner, 37 cm high and 18 cm at its maximum width, consists of a detachable top and a tall-footed body. The top is decorated with a dragon shape, giving the overall design a dignified and elegant appearance. A three-dimensional dragon is carved on the top, coiled on a circular base. The dragon holds its head high, mouth open, teeth bared, with a majestic expression, raised horns, flowing mane, and its forepaws tightly clutching a pearl. Its powerful and agile form, clearly defined scales, muscular limbs, and upward-curling tail showcase exquisite sculpting skills. The entire dragon is covered in a sky-blue Ru ware glaze with a delicate, crackled surface. The glaze is slightly thinner on the scales and joints, subtly revealing the warm beige tone of the porcelain body, adding depth. The shape of the vessel imitates a high-footed bronze censer. The rim is decorated with floral patterns and raised floral designs. The outer wall is adorned with finely carved lotus petals, each containing rounded floral designs, creating a richly layered relief effect. The central waisted column is decorated with small mythical beast patterns, connecting to the outward-spreading base, which is also decorated with lotus patterns. The interior of the censer remains open, with a uniform glaze and natural crackles. The entire vessel is covered in the unique sky-blue glaze of Ru ware, exhibiting a soft and elegant tone with delicate ice-like crackles. The raised edges reveal the subtle color of the body beneath the glaze, highlighting the exquisite craftsmanship. This incense burner combines molding, high-relief decoration, and superb glazing techniques, making it a prestigious ceremonial and Buddhist decorative item from the Song Dynasty.
