Description: This Yue ware celadon jar with carved four-ring lid is 19.5 cm high and 21 cm in diameter at the mouth. The jar has full, rounded shoulders, a raised body that tapers slightly at the bottom, and a finely crafted foot rim, giving it a balanced and substantial overall shape. Four pairs of ring handles made of twisted clay strips are evenly distributed on the shoulders, each pair with perforations for attaching a cord. The matching lotus leaf-shaped lid has softly wavy edges and a round knob that fits perfectly against the body. The shoulder is decorated with several raised horizontal lines, and the entire body is carved with flowing lotus petal patterns. The carving style is simple yet elegant, showcasing the understated artistic style of early celadon production. The handles and foot rim reveal the warm porcelain body. The exposed foot rim displays the solid texture of earthenware and bears traces of reddish-brown clay. This piece is exquisitely shaped and beautifully carved, exhibiting typical Yue ware characteristics, and is an important representative of early Chinese celadon for storage and ritual purposes.
