拍品描述

Dimensions: Height 18 cm (7.1 inches), maximum body diameter 12 cm (4.7 inches), 11th century. Condition and Provenance: This pot is well-preserved and comes with its original lid. The body is intact, the glaze has naturally aged with slight signs of use, and retains the surface texture characteristic of kiln firing. The unglazed base retains ancient traces of clay and kiln sand, reflecting its historical character. Provenance: Private collection, Hong Kong. Description: This Northern Song Dynasty celadon melon-shaped pot is 18 cm high and 12 cm in maximum body diameter, and comes with its original lid. The mouth flares outward, the neck is slender, and the body is a full melon shape with clear vertical lines. Several shallow horizontal lines adorn the lower part of the body, adding a refined structural feel. The long, elegant spout extends gracefully upward from one side of the body, complementing the curved handle on the other side. A hanging ring is provided at the top of the handle for securing the lid with a rope, a harmonious and practical design. The spout is adorned with delicate floral appliqués, showcasing the potter's exquisite craftsmanship. The original saucer-shaped lid is topped with a rounded knob, and a small ring at the edge for secure fastening. The bottom of the lid is unglazed, preserving natural traces of the clay. The entire body is covered in a soft, bluish-white glaze, elegant in color, with a lustrous, slightly translucent sheen. The glaze naturally thins along the rim and raised areas, subtly revealing the porcelain body. The bottom is unglazed, exposing the fine white porcelain body, wheel-carving marks, the accumulated clay over time, and kiln sand traces. This piece is well-proportioned, with a gentle shape, melon-ribbed patterns, and, unusually, retains its original lid. It is a classic example of a Song Dynasty Tianhu kiln style water pot, combining practical function with refined aesthetic value.
