Dimensions: Overall height 22 cm (8.66 inches), maximum diameter 16 cm (6.30 inches), Period: 10th-13th century. Condition and Provenance: This vessel is in perfect condition, with the one-piece spout and ring handle intact. The body retains its original amber-yellow glaze, but shows signs of age and earth weathering. The unglazed foot exposes the coarse, sandy clay characteristic of northern kilns. There are no obvious cracks or signs of repair, nor any modern reglazing or refurbishment. The glaze and clay retain authentic ancient burial marks. This yellow-glazed gourd-shaped vessel comes from a renowned private collection in California specializing in ancient northern frontier ceramics from China. It was acquired in the early 1990s by a well-known Asian antique dealer in San Francisco and has remained in the private collection ever since. The original acquisition documents, condition assessment report, and archival photographs are fully archived and categorized under the Liao-Jin Northern Kiln Ceramics group. The provenance is complete and traceable. Description: This well-preserved yellow-glazed gourd-shaped water vessel is a typical representative of the ceramic art of the nomadic culture in northern Liao and Jin dynasties. It features a double-ball gourd shape with a curved ring handle and a straight spout. Both the upper and lower parts of the gourd are decorated with concentric circles. Gourd-shaped water vessels are not commonly found in the private market. It provides invaluable material for the study of kiln firing techniques in northern frontier areas, the customs of nomadic peoples, and ancient low-temperature lead glaze techniques, possessing excellent exhibition value, archaeological and historical research value, and high-level antique collection value.
